Edson Customer Testimonials

June 2011

Dear Ed,

I just wanted to follow up after your e-mail from the 2nd. To say that there is an improvement in the steering on "Sonny" would be an understatement for sure, she is a substantially better boat to sail as a result of the changes we have made and I am very grateful to you, and the whole team at Edson for your commitment to the boat and the help you have given us in making this change. I have always been a great supporter of Edson International, but I would be remiss in not thanking you all for the help you have given us over the years. It is great to work with a knowledgeable group of engineers who enjoy a challenge. I look forward to the next project whatever it may be!

Regards, Simon Davidson

My name is Capt. John Luchka and I am a Guide in the New York and New Jersey region and my Guide Service is Long Run Fishing Charters. I have fished numerous tournaments and have penned many articles as well as appeared on a variety of TV shows and everything I use while on the water is a tool to my success whether guiding or competing and my choice of steering wheels is no exception.

I have been using the Edson 13 inch Satin finish stainless steel power wheel on my last two boats and boat handling is extremely important and this wheel allows me to steer with one hand comfortably and confidently while operating the throttle with my other hand. I have chosen to upgrade to Edson on every boat I've owned and it makes maneuvering in and out of my slip and tight spaces a true breeze! So when its time to order your new boat, upgrade your steering wheel to an Edson Satin Finish Power wheel and experience the difference.

Hi Chuck,

I am the guy who stopped in your booth at the All Sail show in Chicago to inquire about sourcing the worn out gasket that seals the shift/throttle housing on our Tartan 4100. Our replacement gasket arrived by mail today and I want to express my thanks and appreciation for your extra effort on our behalf. You are a man of your word and I shouldn't have been surprised to see your prompt follow up. Edson built its reputation and customer loyalty by marketing the best available products, but your after sale customer focus is exceptional and noteworthy. You may be sure that I will share our experience with everyone I know in our boating community.

Thanks again,
Alan Jackson

Dear Ed,

I really appreciate the personal reply, and I’m not surprised by it. I grew up in Annapolis and attended the boatshow faithfully, working the Hobie, Windsurfer, and Catalina booths for Backyard Boats when I was in high school. The Edson folks that came to the show always impressed me with their deep knowledge of your products, your customers, and your market. The products have always been well designed, well built, and truly useful! I still go back to the show, and spent time in 2008 talking to someone on your staff about the best way to mount a handheld GPS, and purchased the guard mount that you can see in the picture. Thanks for the great service, please keep it up!

Best regards,

Hello, You recently sent me a replacement set of rubber feet for my Edson boarding ladder. I just wanted to say thanks (and that the original were lost during a docking procedure that did not go well, not through any fault of the product).

I am looking to add a Radar scanner in the near future, and this reminded me why I should consider Edson over other radar mount vendors.

Thanks again,

I am writing to compliment you on the quick deliver of the throttle cable I ordered Sunday. It was delivered today, well in advance of the expected day. This is even more noteworthy because it's one of the older 32-10 cables. I was pleasantly surprised that you had it in stock.

My complimetns on a great job! I wish all vendors were as good as you. I can't imagine using anyone else for control systems on my boat.

From Tony Marolda - Hunter 27 owner:

June 18, 2008

Dear Will Keene and Hank Keene,

I put an Edson steering system on my Hunter 27 in 1977. That was my first contact with your company. I went down to New Bedford to pick up the hardware and remember being treated very well by the people I met (I think it was Hank, Jr.). That transaction impressed me very much.

With all of my later contacts with Edson, I found the same sense of “extreme” customer service, including a couple of years ago when I had a steering system emergency and had to go to New Bedford to pick up a replacement part.

Your catalogs and website show the same good sense of marketing and customer friendliness. Every time I look at the catalogs or stop by your booth at the Newport, I’m impressed with your ever expanding range of new products that are of interest to boaters.

My congratulations to the Keene family for operating such a well run business. Has the Harvard Business School done a case study of your company yet? They should!

From Hayden Cochran - Island Packet 35 owner:

Dear Edson,

We have the new CD-i helm installed and it worked out GREAT! Outstanding engineering and design. My compliments to the company and all involved...

Thanks again for a great product,

Hayden put together a detailed web page on his IP35 conversion from traditional-style under seat Rack and Pinion to the new Edson CD-i Rack and Pinion system. Check it out here.

From Paul Epp - Northern 29 owner:

Hello Edson
I have purchased your steering pedestal and linkages, i.e.: kit for a "29 Northern" and I have found zero fault with your recommended installation or setup. I found that it was very easy and straight forward. Obviously your engineering team is on top of all, we found that all the parts were included in the conversion.
Thank you,
Paul Epp

From Morgan 43 HIPPO's CAMP owner Dominique Eustache:

I don't know if you ever had a chance to see my review in Latitudes & Attitudes Jan.2007 of the EDSON steering system that I have had on my MORGAN 43...for the past 21 years.

It's been put to extreme testing over the past 10 years/50,000 miles that we have devoted to our circumnavigation.

A letter to Florida Sportsman concerning the Edson PowerKnob...

Mr. Bob Mitchell

Dear Bob,

It is not very often that I have been so compelled to sit down and write
a memo regarding the quality of a product that I just found in the May
issue of Florida Sportsman.

I had been looking for quite some time for a high-quality "wheel
spinner" to no avail. Then I found an advertisement for the Edson Pro-Series "Power
Knob". It looked like it would be the high-end product I was looking
for, so I immediately went to their web site for more
detailed information. My application called for a direct bolt-thru installation
as opposed to the typical strap-on model - so I called the company directly
to see if this was available. It was, and I am now in receipt of what has
to be the best product on the market today. I installed it myself including
drilling and tapping the custom aluminum wheel on my boat (per
instructions provided by Edson).

Bob, all I can say is "If NASA was ever in need of a wheel spinner,
their selection would be the "Power Knob" hands down! I don't know if you've
ever seen the product yourself, but I can now personally attest to my fellow
Florida Sportsman subscribers that this is a Best-In-Class product that
deserves a look-see from other yacht owners who want the very best.

Kind Regards,
Mike Jackson
